Anxiety Therapy

Are you Feeling Anxious Most Days and Not Sure Where To Find The Right Help?

Are you considering anxiety therapy?

Do you have trouble sleeping?

Do you worry excessively and have trouble relaxing?

Maybe you are feeling social anxiety in crowds more often than you would like?

Maybe you worry about what others say or think about you and are searching for peace?

Are you tired of feeling this way and unsure where to turn for help?

Do you wish you could experience relief from your anxious thoughts and feelings?

Many People Struggle With Anxiety on a Daily Basis

It is common to feel overwhelmed with anxiety because it can be such a strong emotion. It is also a very common reason people seek out counseling. Anxiety can feel so consuming that people sometimes describe the feeling as panic. It causes people to overreact, worry excessively and feel consistently distressed. Anxiety can begin to dominate your life if left untreated.

Finding a therapist with experience and education is important. You want to ensure the therapist is licensed to practice in Texas and holds a professional degree in counseling. Many therapists offer a free phone consultation to make sure you are a good match. After the initial conversation people often begin counseling sessions on a weekly basis and make adjustments to frequency as needed.

You Can Learn To Manage Your Anxiety

Anxiety therapy can be particularly effective in helping you overcome your anxiety. My approach is from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) standpoint. I work to guide you through adjusting those distorted emotions, behaviors and thoughts, and replacing them with healthier strategies. Feeling distressed can often distort a person’s perception of reality, and CBT is highly effective at breaking down those distortions.

Through anxiety therapy I have helped individuals better understand their anxiety and learn coping skills for when they feel overwhelmed. Counseling sessions are a safe place where individuals can process and sort out anxious feelings to make more sense of them.  There is no one right answer for anxiety therapy but together we can work through those feelings and help you find more peace in your life.

What If I Feel Hopeless About Resolving My Anxiety?

I frequently hear anxiety described as a feeling of hopelessness, and that those feelings are so overpowering it seems as though they will never subside. These feelings can dominate your life as anxiety takes over all aspects of socializing, working and your home life as well. If you feel like your anxiety has become pervasive in your life, you likely do feel very hopelessness at the moment. This does not have to be a permanent feeling for you.

My goal is to support you in finding hope, so that you can work through those feelings. Finding a sense of peace can help you look at anxiety from a more rational perspective and be better equipped to manage your stress. Hopelessness can feel suffocating, almost as though you are drowning in your current situation with no escape in sight. I attempt to provide a way out of that emotional turmoil.

What If I’m Too Anxious To Come To The First Session?

I understand how challenging it can be to begin anxiety therapy because it is difficult to think about change. Change takes hard work and those who feel high anxiety levels already feel overwhelmed and tired. Just to experience anxiety is exhausting! And then to attempt making changes can be even more draining. Feeling anxious can cause people to completely shut down or even isolate.

But oftentimes coming to that first session can prompt the beginning stages of change. I provide a safe space to share your thoughts without judgement. When everyday life pressures are weighing you down, I offer a place to experience relief and healing. Processing what is occurring in your life can greatly reduce anxious feelings. Feel free to talk as much or as little as you feel comfortable, especially during the first session. Therapy is a process and developing enough of a comfort level to share more meaningful information is part of the process.

How Will Anxiety Therapy Help?

By providing a safe place to share fears and concerns anxiety therapy can bring about change. When a person feels safe enough to share without judgement they can become empowered to challenge anxious thoughts and emotions. In addition, giving a voice to thoughts that you have previously internalized, supports the process of relieving anxiety. And counseling is a great form of self-care!

Anxiety therapy gives you the space to process deep emotions and make sense of them, so you can view them from a different perspective. Oftentimes making sense of how we feel involves openly discussing thoughts and feelings. Through counseling we can discuss appropriate coping skills to utilize or different approaches for handling certain situations. Together we can look at how learned patterns of behavior from your family of origin may also be influencing how you perceive life challenges and stress.
